Church of the Good Shepherd Wedding Photography + Film

Kia ora, we're Robin + Andie, a wedding photography and film studio based in Akaroa, and we photograph and film weddings at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Tekapo.

The little stone church on the lakeshore, with the turquoise water in front and the Southern Alps behind it, is one of the most recognisable places in New Zealand to get married, and one of the most beautiful.

Shooting at the church

The church is small, which shapes everything. Ceremonies here are intimate by necessity, and that's a good thing photographically. Nobody's lost at the back, and the emotion stays close.

Inside, the window behind the altar frames the lake and the mountains, which is the most photographed view from any church in the country, and quite possibly the world.

Outside is where the scale arrives. Lake, tussock, and mountains in every direction, so you step out of a tiny stone building into an enormous landscape. Depending on the time of year, the shoreline is awash with lupins. That contrast is what makes Tekapo galleries look like nowhere else.

Our approach

Natural, documentary-led and unobtrusive. We photograph what happens rather than staging it, and we keep out of the way while doing it.

That's Wedding Photos With Good VibesĀ® in practice. Calm on the day, and photos and films that carry the real feeling of it.

Elopements at Lake Tekapo

Tekapo is one of the best elopement locations in the country. Small, dramatic and genuinely remote-feeling, without needing a helicopter to reach it.
