Waipuna Estate Wedding Photography + Film

Kia ora, we're Robin + Andie, a wedding photography and film studio who've shot a good number of weddings at Waipuna Estate.

Waipuna sits on a hilltop above Tai Tapu, about half an hour from central Christchurch. High enough that the whole plain opens up beneath you, with the Southern Alps along the horizon when the day's clear.

Shooting at Waipuna

The elevation is the thing. Wide open sky in every direction means light that stays soft and even for longer than it does down on the flat, and portraits with genuine depth behind them rather than a hedge.

The alpacas are the other thing. They're curious, they wander over, and they've made their way into more Waipuna galleries than we ever planned. Guests love them, and they give a day a bit of character you don't get at a standard garden venue.

There's native bush around the property too, which is useful. On a bright day it gives us shade and a completely different backdrop, so a Waipuna wedding doesn't have to be all wide open views.

Elopements at Waipuna

Waipuna works beautifully for small weddings and elopements. We've filmed and photographed both here, and the hilltop setting gives an intimate ceremony the same sense of scale a big one gets.
