The Hilltop Wedding Photography + Film

Kia ora, we're Robin + Andie, a wedding photography and film studio based in Akaroa, about ten minutes down the road from The Hilltop.

The view

The Hilltop sits at the top of the hill above Akaroa Harbour, and it's the view everybody stops for on the drive over. The whole harbour opens up below you, with the hills folding away on both sides. As a backdrop for a ceremony there isn't much in Canterbury to touch it.

The venue is run by the team behind 5th Street in Christchurch, so the food and hospitality side is in good hands, which isn't something you can say about every scenic spot.

Shooting above Akaroa Harbour

We're based in Akaroa and we've photographed weddings and elopements across Banks Peninsula for years, so we know this stretch of coast and how it behaves.

Light is the main thing up there. That high above the water it moves fast, especially late in the day, and it can go from flat to spectacular in ten minutes. Knowing when that's coming is the difference between catching it and missing it.

Portrait spots close by

Bays, hillsides and coastline, all within a few minutes of the venue. Plenty of variety without going far.
