Kia ora, we're Robin + Andie, a wedding photography and film studio based right here in Akaroa.

This is home. We're not driving over the hill for the day, we live on Banks Peninsula, and that shows up in the work. We know which bays hold the light late, which spots are sheltered when the wind gets up, and how long the road round the harbour really takes.

The French-influenced village, the sheltered harbour and the hills behind it make Akaroa feel like a proper escape, while still being an easy drive from Christchurch. It suits couples who want their wedding to feel like a weekend away rather than a single afternoon, and guests almost always stay on and make a trip of it.

We photograph and film weddings all over the Peninsula, from waterfront ceremonies at Okains Bay to hillside venues like Mt Vernon Lodge, Ridgecliff and The Hilltop, along with elopements and small celebrations in quieter corners most people never find.

What being local actually means

Weather on the Peninsula changes fast, and a plan that looked perfect in January can look very different on the day. Because we shoot here constantly, we're not working it out as we go. We already know where to head when the harbour clouds in, and which alternatives still give you the view.

Akaroa is one of the best places in the country to elope. Small, private, dramatic scenery, and no need for a big production. We shoot these regularly, and the approach doesn't change.
