Pemberton Gardens Wedding // Rashana + Alex

We knew from the start that Rashana and Alex’s wedding at Pemberton Gardens in Christchurch was going to be incredible. Not just because they’re an absolute dream couple – kind, stylish, and completely in love – but because they had one goal for their day: to have the best time with all their favourite people!

We began the day quietly at the gorgeous on-site accommodation at Pemberton, capturing those little in-between moments – Rashana getting ready with her family, her mum helping her into her dress, and the first look with her dad. Cue the tears!

The ceremony was held in the gardens, surrounded by friends, whānau, and the most insanely stunning orchid florals by the talented team at Saturday Collective. After one big deep breath, Rashana walked in beaming. Alex was absolutely floored. Their celebrant – the hilarious and heartfelt Lana Searle, a friend of Rashana’s – had everyone laughing and crying in equal measure. The kind of ceremony that felt truly real.

We photographed the day in our usual low-key, documentary style – blending in, letting things unfold naturally, and telling the story honestly. No awkward posing, just real moments. Like the beautiful chaos of the champagne tower. Rashana dancing with her granddad. That emotional speech from her mum that had everyone holding back tears.

And then… the moment we’ll never forget. The dance floor was packed, the energy was high, and Rashana disappeared for a little while. She came back with a brand new haircut. Yep – she chopped off all her hair in the bathroom (as you do) and surprised Alex in the middle of the party. His face said it all. One of those wild, beautiful moments that reminds us why we do what we do.

We ended the night with full hearts, memory cards bursting with joy, and that warm buzz that comes from being around truly good humans on one of the best days of their lives.
