Dunedin Wedding // Kristin + Bryn
We met Kristin + Bryn at one of the most beautiful beaches in Dunedin, beneath a heart shaped hole in a rock. It was the most idyllic spot for an engagement shoot, and it was great to get to know this super fun couple ahead of their big day.
On the morning of the wedding, Bryn and his boys got suited and booted together, while Kristin got ready in St Clair with her parents and bridesmaids at an Airbnb with fabulous views.
Bryn’s wedding ring was made by Artifact in New Zealand using the gold from his late father’s wedding band. We think they did a truly beautiful job of making this precious metal even more precious.
Kristin’s makeup was expertly done by local Dunedin MUA Ciara Fitzsimon’s and her hair by Bryn’s lovely cousin and hair stylist Lana. There were all sorts of cute bridal details for Andie to photograph while hanging out with the girls.
When Robin returned from photographing the boys getting ready, we nipped out on the balcony for a couple of quick shots of Kristin rocking her robe.
Snapped at the same time from two different angles on the balcony, Rob’s reflection shot of Kristin (above) and Andie’s shot (below) with the epic balcony views of St Clair show that our bride was up for a having a laugh on her wedding day. We are super grateful that we seem to attract such cool, laid back brides. The weather was starting to get a little stormy… but somehow we knew Kristin + Bryn’s ‘first look’ photos were going to be extra fabulous and wild!
Lana and Kristin’s bridesmaids help her with her daisy chain hairpiece and stunning veil.
Kristin had two gorgeous dresses for the day. One to wear for her ceremony and wedding portraits, and one to party in! We love this idea… and why not!
The expression on Kristin’s best friend’s face when she sees her in her wedding dress is gold!
Our ‘first look on the beach’ plans had to be relocated due to the face stinging sand from the wind, so we went to the Plan B location we had up our sleeves, which was the esplanade at St Clair. We love it when a Plan B looks so good in the photographs, it should have been Plan A! The wind was literally howling, but the shots are some of our favourite ‘first look photos’ EVER.
Tap tap tap…
And then Kristin’s veil flew away…
Bryn’s brother sprinted after it and managed to get it back, while Kristin collapsed in a fit of giggles. We all felt the shock and horror as the veil flew out to sea, and then the relief of seeing it fly back to shore like an out of control albatross. Haha.
There’s something about wind that makes people go a little crazy… and we love it! Kristin + Bryn needed no encouragement from us to go full on ‘Titanic’ on the esplanade.
Time for a quiet drink…
Before the wedding ceremony and reception at Corstorphine House in Dunedin, we headed up to the Botanic Gardens in Dunedin for wedding portraits. The aim was to find somewhere that was a little more sheltered from the wind.
Kristin’s beautiful bouquet was designed by Dried Meadow, and the couple’s car was hired for them as a fun wedding day gift from their family.
At Corstorphine House, Kristin’s dad walked her down an aisle of black flax pods and golden toetoe to her future husband, Bryn. It was a really sweet moment.
The gardens at Corstorphine House make for a truly beautiful ceremony location, and our happy couple were married by a close family member beneath an impressive arch adorned in dried flowers. It was lovely to see the sun shining down on them after such a stormy morning.
We love to capture all the emotions (and facial expressions) as our couples say their vows.
Sign here, here and here to become Mrs Evans…
We love capturing those ‘just married’ vibes!
After the ceremony, we shot some stunning wedding portraits around the grounds of Corstorphine House. There’s an area which reminds us of an English country garden, which we felt very at home in.
Kristin’s wedding dress was next level. We just love the length in this shot below.
We always use our drone skills to get one big group photo of everyone at the wedding.
Corstorphine House was set up beautifully for the wedding reception.
We were delighted to see one of Krisitn + Bryn’s engagement shoot photos on the menu.
Our happy couple cut their gorgeous cake as soon as they entered for their reception.
With the drinks topped up, it was time for some hilarious speeches…
And this is just how Kristin’s brother rolls…

First dance was outside beneath the festoon lights to ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ by Paul McCartney. We were over the moon to hear this absolute tune and had forgotten how much we love this song. Subsequently, it’s been added to our road trip playlist and will always remind us of these guys and their awesome wedding day.
The dance floor got pretty lively, and we always stick around for the party to make sure we get those classic d-floor action shots.
We had the best day with Kristyn + Bryn and their lovely friends and family. There were so many laughs, and it’s a wedding we won’t ever forget! It was such a blast!
Kristin: “Robin + Andie were just absolutely incredible for both our engagement shoot and wedding. For two quite awkward human beings (that's us, not them), our photos look incredibly natural and happy. The wedding especially, they completely captured all the love and exciting, happy vibes of the day. I (the bride) was laughing all day, and they somehow managed to make all photos of me with my mouth hanging open look fun and tasteful. We have had so many comments on our photos, and we couldn't be happier with them. Thank you so much!! I'm sure we'll hire you in twenty/thirty years for the vow renewal party!”
