Christchurch Botanic Gardens Wedding // Adriana + Matthew
We just love a low-key elopement and we were delighted to spend a couple of hours with Adriana + Matthew doing their wedding portraits around the grounds of Christchurch Botanic Gardens following their ceremony with the fabulous celebrant (and our very own!) Kineta Booker.
There are lots of great places in Christchurch Botanic Gardens to get married and Adriana + Matthew chose the white pillared Bandsmen’s Memorial Rotunda for their wedding vows.
We had a lot of fun exploring the gardens with our happy couple. This gorgeous mosaic chair and ottoman 'Flora and Otto' was lovingly mosaicked with china - broken during the Christchurch earthquakes - by a group of talented volunteers known as Crack'd for Christchurch.
'Flora and Otto' was gifted to the city as a celebration of our lost history and testament to the fact that what was broken can be rebuilt. We think it’s a really beautiful work of art.
We are both mad hatters and fell in love with Adriana’s white Van Palma hat. It was SO stylish and chic just like her! In particular we thought it was a really nice touch that the designers at Van Palma embroidered Adriana + Matthew’s first initials on to the side of her hat. A+M forever!
Van Palma are a French company and Adriana got her hat from their showroom in Marseilles. If you’re looking for a wedding hat in NZ we’d recommend checking out Me & The Brave. The great thing is that five percent of your M&TB hat will go to mental health causes in New Zealand which we think is pretty cool.

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens have some beautiful bridges for wedding portraits. Punters often pass by on the River Avon. Dreamy!
