Tipapa Estate Wedding // Danielle + Dean
If you’re looking for the best wedding venue in Canterbury, then Tipapa Estate is somewhere you should definitely go and check out. We’ll share some reasons why Tipapa is such a great venue via a few of our favourite pics from Danielle + Dean’s wedding.
The Homestead’s beautiful boutique accommodation on site at Tipapa is the perfect spot for getting ready ahead of the big day and most importantly it’s set up perfectly for ‘getting ready’ photos! With stunning windows, lots of space and immaculately presented interiors… it’s the dream. Tipapa Estate is stylish and elegant, historic and rustic all rolled into one countryside wedding venue that’s just an hour’s drive from Christchurch. Grab your cowgirl boots and come this way…
Our drone photo below shows an aerial view of Tipapa Estate. Top central/left is The Homestead B&B wedding accommodation which has 4 bedrooms available, a large lawn area for cocktails and canapés and several cool spots for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Below right (the red building) is The Woolshed at Tipapa which is ideal for North Canterbury wedding receptions of up to 120 guests.
The reason we love photographing weddings at Tipapa is that there are so many options for wedding photos. From wooden sheds to wooden staircases, exotic carpet walls to white walls and golden fields to gorgeous gardens. Every wonderful window has a view… so you can keep an eye out for guests arriving.
The Homestead staircase is the ideal place to show off the full length of a bridal gown.
Whenever we think of Tipapa Estate weddings, we always think of FUN TIMES! This might be because we had such a laugh with Danielle + Dean. Danielle was in cahoots with Dean’s best man to surprise him during the ‘first look’ photos… as you can see below, Dean was expecting to turn around and see his beautiful bride Danielle and not his best mate in bridal drag! This is where documentary wedding photography becomes priceless. At Tipapa there’s plenty of room for hijinks, and we’re always up for a laugh ;)
After the wedding ceremony, we reckon you can’t beat the perfectly manicured lawn and gardens of The Homestead for your guests to seek the shade of white umbrellas and have a few sparkling drinks while you head off around the grounds with us for wedding photos.
The Woolshed at Tipapa was first constructed in 1890, and we love the red and rustic vibes. When the sun is shining on the shed, it’s simply magic. On the walls inside the venue you can see old sheep shearer’s wool stamps behind the head table which is so cool. The space is arty in its design and yet historical, which makes it an incredibly special place.
Tipapa Estate’s long driveway lined with trees is a favourite for wedding photos, along with a trip up the hill above the estate in our 4x4 for golden hour. We think this secret spot above Tipapa is easily one of the best places in Canterbury NZ for sunset wedding photos. It’s super easy to nip away and take some time out as newly-weds to soak up the good vibes and golden rays.
If you’re up for it… we’d even recommend a wee chillax while we get the drone out! We’re always looking for ways to make your wedding photos a bit different from everyone else’s and the drone is one way we like to get a bit creative.
At the end of the day (and all day!) our main aim is to capture our couples and their friends and family having the best time of their lives. What makes a wedding feel special is down to the location you choose and the people you surround yourself with. We think that Tipapa Estate is a wonderful place to have a wedding, and the locations available on site for wedding photos are outstanding. The owners Jane + Stewart and Kate + Steph from Collective Concepts are the dream team and can help plan your wedding dream day! Tipapa is certainly one of our favourite wedding venues in Canterbury.
Danielle + Dean: “Our photos are absolutely amazing! You have captured everyone perfectly in their own style and personality!! Thank you so so much!”
