Mt Vernon Lodge Wedding // Lauren + Vaughan
Lauren + Vaughan’s wedding at Mt Vernon Lodge was an absolute beaut! From first look until sunset we had such a blast with these two. Their wedding day was so beautiful it was featured in Canterbury Bride magazine recently too!
Lauren and her girls got ready at an Airbnb in Akaroa that had great views out across the harbour. Andie photographed Lauren’s bridal details on a map of Akaroa she took down from the wall. We’re always looking to do something a little creative and different to the norm ;)
The girls snapped a few of their own getting ready photos on a Polaroid which was fun.
Rob will often send the drone up at Mt Vernon Lodge to capture the cool location and size of this fab Akaroa wedding venue which is nestled in the hills and has amazing views out across the harbour.
It’s all about the light when you’re a professional wedding photographer and we spend our lives chasing it! We love this ring shot next to Vaughan’s floral tie. Vaughan designed the rings himself and commissioned them to be made which makes them super special!
We did first look photos up at our secret Banks Peninsula location high above Akaroa in the hills. Vaughan’s face when he first saw Lauren in her wedding gown was a real treat!
The good thing about doing first look in advance of the wedding ceremony is that our couple’s can get the majority of their wedding party and couple portraits done… which means they can spend lots more time with their guests during canapé and cocktail hour.
Lauren’s gorgeous wedding dress was second hand and designer! We also loved her white denim jacket.
White heart sunnies are here to stay!
After first look we headed to our 2nd secret location high above Akaroa and the Bays for some more amazing wedding portraits.
Lauren + Vaughan’s wedding ceremony was conducted by Lauren’s very charismatic brother and Vaughan’s auntie who is a registered celebrant.
Christchurch based celebrant Robyn O’Brien was over the moon to be able to hitch her nephew and his beloved!
The reception room at Mt Vernon looked great with hanging florals and fairy lights. This is a space that really benefits from being dressed by someone who is artistic and has a vision.
After speeches we nipped away to our secret sunset location.
And waved goodbye to the sun from one of the local bays…
After a spectacular first dance Lauren + Vaughan’s friends and family partied the night away in style. There’s something about Mt Vernon weddings… they always have the best dance floor antics! Maybe it’s because the venue is BYO and doesn’t have a curfew…
What a day!!
Lauren + Vaughn: “We love Robin + Andie! They really listened to what we wanted from our wedding day. We feel like they took our ideas and turned them into art. From when we met them we clicked and they helped us feel natural in the moment. They gave us the perfect amount of little suggestions to get those perfect photos. They also captured so many raw and genuine moments throughout the wedding day. Their style of photography is perfect for unobtrusively capturing those beautiful candid moments. Not only are they incredible photographers, they also are the loveliest people, who really truly care.”
