Michelle + Vic wanted to incorporate “Alpacas” into their Akaroa engagement shoot and had arranged for us to visit Shamarra Alpacas with them on the anniversary of their first date. How cute is that? Of course, we LOVED this idea and wanted to incorporate a trip to see our furry friends (who live just down the road) with a couple of secret photo spots we know on Banks Peninsula which have stunning views over Akaroa Harbour. Needless to say… we all had the most incredible afternoon together. Check out Robin’s drone photography below showing Andie in action at our first amazing shoot location! 

Our advice to couples before an engagement shoot is to wear something smart casual (both) a dress/clothing you feel comfortable in and make up etc… Michelle + Vic absolutely blew us away with their stylish wardrobe choices. This gorgeous Christchurch based couple turned up with 3 different outfit changes! Their self-styling efforts from wearing sun hats at the beach to cosy knitwear at the alpaca farm helped us to achieve some truly stunning photographs. Michelle had put so much thought into coordinating their outfits… which included matching sports shoes. They got Andie’s memo re: wearing sneakers for the shoot as we often like to go for a wee walk in the countryside… no heels allowed!

We always include a free engagement shoot for our wedding clients, as we find it’s a great way to get to know each other ahead of the big day. It’s really important to us that our couples feel super relaxed in front of the camera, so that on the wedding day it doesn’t look or feel #awks at all. Engagement shoots are also a good opportunity to practise natural poses and to realise that having your photo taken by experienced pros is actually a lot of fun! By the end of an engagement shoot with us, you’ll feel like superstars and that confidence will transfer over seamlessly to your wedding day… resulting in natural, relaxed wedding photographs.
